A delegation led by Marcus Rodrigs, President of Academic Senate of The University of Newcastle, Australia, visited Chongqing Jiaotong University on May 8. Lai Yuanming, President of Chongqing Jiaotong University, met with the delegation as both sides exchanged views on deepening cooperation in talent cultivation, faculty exchanges, scientific research, and cultural initiatives.
Following the meeting, President Marcus and his delegation joined Huang Chengfeng, Vice President of Chongqing Jiaotong University, along with representatives from the International Office, Graduate School, Teaching Affairs Office, Science and Technology Department, and Economics and Management School, for continued discussions in Room 310 of Mingde Building.
Mao Mingyong, Director of the International Office, CJU,welcomed the delegation again and introduced CJU’s history, disciplines and specialties, scientific and technological innovation, and international exchanges in detail. Hoping to create a more distinctive and influential Sino-Australia cooperation projects. At the meeting, both sides conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as talent training, discipline innovation, scientific research, especially the application and breakthrough of AI under the rapid development of science and technology, and agreed to jointly explore the future cooperation and exchange.
President Marcus spoke highly of the development achievements of Chongqing Jiaotong University, especially in the international cooperation and exchange between China and Australia. Combined with the development experience of the University of Newcastle in Australia, he shared his insights on the future development of the discipline, and expressed his willingness to bridge the two universities to carry out in-depth cooperation and exchanges in the discipline construction, cultural exchange and academic mobility.
Vice President Huang Chengfeng made a concluding speech, highlighting the “resources - disciplines - humanities” linkage between the two universities, that is, to enhance humanistic interaction, nourish academic exchanges with cultural mutual understanding, and plant the foundation of China-Australia people’s heart through educational cooperation.
Finally, Vice President Huang and President Marcus signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the two Universities.
